Keegan Barnes is a local KZN dancer who moved to Cape Town to peruse his passion of Dance. He has been dancing for 13 years and teaching/choreographing for 4 years .Keegan has just recently received his TDA grade 1-3 qualification and is now doing his grade 4-6 grades. He has trained most of his dance career in a dance studio based in Durban called “Jingles and Jazz” dance studio, he has also trained at the very well-known and prestige’s dance company, Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles. Keegan got this opportunity to train at the Millennium Dance Complex through a scholarship he won at the World Champs of Preforming Arts In LA, where he represented South Africa alongside his dance partner winning numerous gold medals and overall trophies.

 

Keegan also just recently participated in the South African Championships of Performing Arts where as a soloist he won gold.  He also performed with his crew Beatbreakerz (which he also trains) also winning golds. Beatbreakerz dance crew is based in Durban and performs regularly at competitions and functions.

 

Keegan has also been a part of a Universal Studios international movie called ‘Bring it on” where he played the character of a cheerleader.  He has performed and choreographed alongside numerous artists such as Kyle Deutsch, Shekinah, Push Push and The Rudimentals UK(international band).   Keegan has always had a passion and interest in choreographing and teaching as he loves sharing his knowledge with people who are passionate about dance, this is why Keegan is very excited to be flying back to KZN to teach down the South Coast. His main focus for this workshops and classes are to unloaded all the knowledge and experience he can to the budding artists and inspire them to be great in everything they do. Keegan has one motto when coming to his class: always bring “Positive Vibes”.

Kirsten's passion for dance started at age 3, when she first began ballet at the Shona Peters Ballet School. She danced with the Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company in Durban in 1998 and placed and won many ballet competitions and Eisteddfods. In her early teens she started modern dancing with Carolyn Frara and soon found her love for modern and contemporary dance. She strives to inspire both children and adults alike with her infectious enthusiasm for the stage and performing.

Shavit started dancing at 3 years old in a purple unitard at the Cape Town Eisteddfod. When she was 9, she switched from modern and ballet to tap and that’s where she found her love for and connection to tap. All throughout her 5 year degree, she kept up with tap - the passion is real!
